If you work in a high-paid job - let's say invest banking, or being monarch of a small country - then you probably have experience of expensive and unnecessarily large cars. Bentley Coupes, Rolls Royce Phantoms and the king of them all, the mighty Maybach all cost the earth, and will have chavs getting their keys out to scratch the paint faster than you can say "
Burberry baseball cap". The first time we unboxed the Rock Xtreme 790 laptop, we couldn’t help but be reminded of these ostentatious automobiles.
The Xtreme 790 is massive. Even the power brick weighs more than your average netbook and requires a full-sized kettle lead input rather than a miniature figure-8 ended power cable. The chassis sports a 17in screen and it weights in at just over 5.2kg, a decidedly uncomfortable amount of weight to lug around with you. We can only imagine that with such a specification – which we’ll get to a moment – a good deal of this weight is in pure copper heatsinks.

The Xtreme 790 doesn’t ship with a laptop bag. Because of the paving slab-like size and weight of the machine, we’d recommend investing a damned sturdy one to carry the laptop around in, and even then relegating the package to a car boot or foot-servant wherever possible would be preferable to most people.

On the plus side, the Xtreme 790 is comparable to a paving slab not just in size and weight but in sturdiness too. This laptop could take some serious rage-quit anger before starting to show signs of abuse, something that will no doubt help angry gamers across the globe reaching for their wallets. Afterall, the last thing you want is your fist to actually go
through the display as that is something that definately
wouldn't be covered by the three year on-site warranty.
